Design Tools for Health Systems
Designing flawless user experiences takes time and courage to build a deep empathy with the needs of people and meticulously iterate on ideas to address those needs. This approach especially becomes crucial in a multi-user, multi-layered and intricate healthcare domain. These challenges taught me to be an agile and resilient designer who is always learning, sometimes hacking new ways and applying many different approaches instead of being stuck in linear rigid design processes.
The design process starts with understanding the context, identifying the problem/s and developing, testing and delivering a solution while meeting business needs, working with technical feasibility and cost targets. Even though this approach might look very linear, it actually consists of very dynamic set of factors that nudge things to different directions. A designer's job is usually, if not only, to see the big picture that considers all of these factors while keeping the human needs on the table all the time. There are various design tools that can be utilized for different cases, yet there is no single, all-in-one approach that will solve every design challenge which requires agility and intention to keep learning.
